Veterinary scheduling software that keeps up with your front desk.
Your schedule changes every few minutes. OpenVPM keeps appointments, doctors, rooms, and visit status together. Staff reschedule through a conflict-checked edit workflow, and configured communication channels can deliver reminders.
Workspace access is immediate. Live clinic use starts as a guided pilot alongside the current PIMS. See current fit and rollout limits.
Smart Scheduling
Your front desk moves fast. OpenVPM gives connected clinics day and week views of appointments, doctors, rooms, and visit status. Rescheduling uses the edit workflow with conflict validation; drag-and-drop is not available yet.
- Day and week views with one column per doctor
- Recurring appointments with custom recurrence rules
- Appointment reminders through configured email or activated SMS
- Full status tracking: scheduled → confirmed → checked in → in exam → ready for checkout
Open source
The whole PIMS is AGPLv3. Read it, run it, shape it. This module is included, never gated.
Your data

Common questions
Does OpenVPM handle multiple doctors and rooms?
Yes. The schedule shows one column per doctor with day and week views, so the front desk can see the whole clinic at a glance and book into the right room.
Can it send appointment reminders automatically?
Yes, after the clinic configures email or completes the controlled SMS activation. Hosted texting is not enabled by default.
Is the scheduling module really free?
The full PIMS, scheduling included, is free to self-host under the AGPLv3 license. If you would rather not run servers, OpenVPM Cloud hosts it for you.
Can I build my own tools on top of the schedule?
Yes. The versioned REST API supports reading and creating appointments, with scoped keys and signed webhooks for supported events. The public source lets you extend it for additional workflows.
