OpenVPM vs IDEXX Neo
IDEXX Neo is an easy, affordable cloud PIMS for practices already in the IDEXX world. OpenVPM is the open option that does not tie you to one lab vendor.
Workspace access is immediate. Live clinic use starts as a guided pilot alongside the current PIMS. See current fit and rollout limits.
IDEXX Neo is the entry-level cloud system in the IDEXX lineup, liked for being easy to learn and well integrated with IDEXX analyzers and reference labs. OpenVPM is independent and exposes selected REST workflows, but it does not currently offer supported IDEXX, Antech, Zoetis, or other external lab integrations.
Pricing for other systems is publicly reported by third parties, not official rate cards. We aim to be fair. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
What about your data?
Neo keeps data in a proprietary format with a curated integration list. OpenVPM keeps a public schema and supports export, but that does not mean every destination or third-party tool connects automatically.

If you are a smaller practice already invested in IDEXX diagnostics and you want simple, affordable cloud software that connects to them, Neo is a sensible fit.

Common questions
Can OpenVPM connect to the external labs I choose?
Not through a supported production integration today. OpenVPM is independent, but it currently supports manual or in-house lab workflows rather than general IDEXX, Antech, Zoetis, or other external lab connections.
What does IDEXX Neo cost?
IDEXX markets single-doctor plans from around $199 per month, while third-party listings show about $290 per month for the first users. OpenVPM has no self-hosted software license fee and is priced per location for Cloud.
Does IDEXX Neo have an open API?
Neo uses a curated, partner-gated integration approach rather than a fully open API. OpenVPM publishes a targeted REST API for selected workflows, signed webhooks, and the full application source and schema.
