OpenVPM vs Digitail
Digitail is a modern, AI-forward cloud system. OpenVPM is open source, but its optional agent is narrower and remains staff-supervised.
Workspace access is immediate. Live clinic use starts as a guided pilot alongside the current PIMS. See current fit and rollout limits.
Digitail is a newer cloud PIMS known for AI automation, a clean interface, and a connected pet-parent app. OpenVPM makes its code and schema public and offers an optional agent when a model key is configured and the clinic opts in. OpenVPM does not offer Digitail's voice scribe, broad automation, or mature client-app experience.
Pricing for other systems is publicly reported by third parties, not official rate cards. We aim to be fair. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
What about your data?
Digitail is modern and reviewers report data export is available. OpenVPM's schema is public and export is available, but a destination migration can still require mapping and cleanup; public source does not make every transition automatic.

When OpenVPM is the better fit
Consider OpenVPM for a controlled, connected single-location companion-animal or house-call pilot if public code matters more than voice scribing or broad AI automation. Its agent requires configuration, opt-in, and staff review.
